RC Garage 24 is an honest decision and comparison tool for radio-controlled models – cars, drones/FPV, boats, planes and helis. One question is at its heart: which model really suits me – and what does it actually cost me in the end?
Why we exist
Almost everyone getting into the RC hobby falls into one of two traps:
- Hidden follow-up costs: the purchase price is often just the beginning. Battery, charger, spare parts, upgrades and repairs can make a cheap model expensive.
- Toy-grade instead of hobby-grade: what looks cheap in the shop is sometimes e-waste after the first crash – no spare parts, no chance of repair.
That's exactly where we come in: we make these hidden costs and quality differences visible before you buy.
Our idea: the follow-up-cost traffic light
Instead of just listing prices, we rate the follow-up costs of every model with a simple traffic light – green, amber, red. It shows what still comes your way after the purchase (battery/charger, spare parts, upgrades), independently of the bare purchase price. On top of that there's a beginner-friendliness assessment and a realistic "ready-to-run" price. Exactly how we calculate this is laid out openly in our methodology.
What we stand by
- We invent nothing. All data comes from shop/affiliate feeds and aggregated reviews – not from gut feeling.
- We label AI texts. Where artificial intelligence helps with descriptions or guides, it says so clearly.
- Users first, not marketing. Our recommendations follow your benefit – not the highest commission.
- Transparent advertising. Affiliate links are labelled as such. If you buy through them we may receive a commission – at no extra cost to you and with no influence on our assessment.
Who's behind it
RC Garage 24 is an independent project by Achim Jughardt from Bremen, Germany – born from the wish to provide the buying advice I would have wanted myself when I got into the hobby: honest, understandable and without sales pressure. Full contact details are in the imprint.
